しかし、それが実に楽しい。
現実にはなかなかそうもいかないことも多いですが、大学で、なにより愉快なのは、問いに答えがなくてもよいことです。面白い問いが提起できればよい。はっとさせられるような問い――関連していろいろなことを考えさせるような問い、なにか曖昧な欲望を掻き立てるような問い――そういう問いを議論のなかで練り上げることができればよいのです。会議ではそうはいかない。会議では、落とし所を探ること、とりあえずの合意を形成すること、無理そうだったらすぐに諦めて、余計なエネルギーを消耗しないように、その場は早く終わらせること、が重要になります。演習では、逆に、全員の合意をできるだけ遅らせること、一致しているかに見える意見のあいだに微妙な差異を見つけ出すこと、余計な一言を発して議論を混乱させることが重要になります。「たしかにそうなんだけれど、でも、○○ということを考慮に入れると、××であるということになるから、その議論は成立しなくなるよね～、えへへっ」といった感じでしょうか。議論における、そういう品の良くない態度を、私はいま演習で読んでいるクレーリーの訳者から学びましたが、いまふうに言うと、そういうのはドＳというのでしょうか、それともドＭなのでしょうか。
